The appropriateness of the award

The Quality Assurance Agency ensures that the broad standard of any particular award is consistent across the higher education sector in England. The Qualifications Framework (FHEQ) sets down descriptors for Honours level, Master's level, Doctoral level and other awards. It is important at the point of designing a new course, major part of course, or when significantly revising a course, that the level of knowledge and the kinds of learning outcomes expected are checked against the Qualifications Framework. The General Board's Education Committee will also take account of this when it considers new courses or revised courses for approval.
