Educational and Student Policy

Changes to the current academic year's programme specifications

If changes are needed throughout the academic year to ensure that the programme specification accurately reflects the course as it is being taught, please:

  1. amend the latest word version of the relevant programme specification;
  2. update the 'date specification produced' field in the programme specification header;
  3. email the amended document to Melissa Rielly (Melissa.Rielly@admin.cam.ac.uk) who will arrange for the version live on CamDATA to be updated accordingly.

Significant changes to programme specifications should first be approved by the Faculty Board. If any changes require amendments to the Regulations the standard approval process must be followed (for more information please see the guidance on changes to courses).

Annual review of programme specifications

In Lent term, Educational and Student Policy emails word versions of the relevant programme specifications to each faculty/department with a request that they review the documents to ensure that they will be accurate for the next academic year.  For graduate courses, a draft version is prepared by Educational and Student Policy based on the information previously provided in the Graduate Prospectus.

If changes are needed, faculties and departments should:

  1. amend the latest word version of the relevant programme specification;
  2. update the 'date specification produced' field in the programme specification header;
  3. email the amended document to Educational and Student Policy.

If no changes are necessary, faculties and departments are asked to:

  1. update the 'date specification produced' field in the programme specification header so that it is evident that the document has been reviewed for currency;
  2. email the document to Educational and Student Policy.

Programme specifications for the next academic year are published on the CamDATA: course information and statistics website over the Long Vacation, and those from the former academic year are transferred to the archive.
