Joint Review of Part-time Students

This programme of work on part-time provision and student experience was initiated in 2022 by the University and Colleges Joint Committee and reports jointly to the Colleges' Committee, the University Council and the General Board.   The review will address both the fundamental strategic and governance issues, as well as operational matters relating to part-time students at Cambridge.  The review of part-time students relates only to students who are following courses which lead to a formal qualification from the University. A copy of the preliminary report is available here.

The Review is Chaired by Professor Bhaskar Vira, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education)

Progression model courses for flexible study

Responding to growing interest in flexible study courses, the Academic Standards and Enhancement Committee (ASEC) has approved underlying principles and an initial framework for progression model courses at Cambridge.  As an example, students are awarded a Postgraduate Certificate, then exit for a short period, returning to "top up" their course to a Postgraduate Diploma.  This work is continuing, and the team are working to improve infrastructure, provide clear communication of the framework, and develop additional models of this type of provision.
